Description
The bidding was by prequalified, select listing. The project was broken into five phases (to keep the building operational), with the primary auditorium addition built through the winter. The auditorium work exposed us to several unique systems, including theatrical lighting, acoustic, sound reinforcement, and playback. The remodel phases started as late as the end of the school year, and involved science laboratories, locker, class and music rooms. One of the more interesting challenges was "popping up" part of the structure as part of an effort to increase circulation pathways. Some of the building components used included caissons, helical piers, ground-faced block, brick, steel joists, built-up roofing, handicap lift, radial skylight, mechanical and electrical.
